Getting other people to like you may be a piece of cake for some people but others have a hard time at this. if you are naturally shy and quiet, it may be difficult to get other people to like you. if it does happen, it would probably take a long time. Below are some simple tips that you could follow to speed up the process. When more people like you, it would be easier to be around them and work with them.
Easy To Get Along With
Don’t be invisible. How can people notice you if you sit quietly in the corner all the time? Be happy and cheerful. Don’t be all sad and grumpy all the time. Smile often. Greet people with a simple smile and nod or a “hello”. They would probably smile back or greet back. This is already a start. Be a fun person. Keep in mind that acting happy, even if youíre not, will eventually lift your spirits. A good sense of humor would help a lot people like to laugh. If you are able to do that, it will be easier for them to like you. In general, be someone who is easy to get along with.
Don’t be overly sensitive. Don’t be annoyed and irritated by simple things. Be calm, laid back, relaxed and positive when something goes wrong. People will find it difficult to like you if you have a very negative attitude. This is because negativity is infectious. People wouldn’t want to be infected by your negative vibe so they wonít hang out with you at all. Do not be a whiny person, about anything. Discuss good events instead of how hard your work is. Do not brag, ever. This would make you seem arrogant and self-righteous.
Sincerity Goes A Long Way
Ask about their lives, how they are, etc. This will allow them to open up to you. When you talk about yourself, don’t talk too much. Ask the other person about what they think as well. Look for things that you like bout other people and tell them about it. Compliment them on things that they are good at. Simple things like how their hair looks would already go a long way. Do not overdo it though. You will seem like you’re sucking up to them if you do. Also, be sincere in doing this. When talking to people, look at their eyes. This will show that you are paying attention and that you are sincere in what you’re saying. Not making eye contact is one of the easiest ways to tell if someone is not listening or not interested.
Itís About Them, Not Just You
Aside from opening up about the things that you like, talk about what the other person likes as well. Be encouraging when someone fails at something. Never ever boast. You should also be empathetic to others needs. When addressing someone, use their name. This makes the conversation more personal.
